Community Engagement - Go Columbus Agriculture

Growing Community, One Connection at a Time

At Go Columbus Agriculture, we believe that farms are more than places where food grows—they're community hubs where neighbors meet, relationships form, and everyone has a place at the table. Our Community Engagement programs create welcoming spaces where people of all backgrounds can connect with agriculture, access fresh food, learn new skills, and build relationships with their neighbors.

From volunteer days at the farm to community celebrations, free workshops to fresh food distributions, we're creating opportunities for Linden residents and Columbus community members to engage with urban agriculture in meaningful ways.

Why Community Engagement Matters

Strong communities are built on connection, shared experiences, and mutual support. When neighbors work together in gardens, share meals featuring local food, and learn from one another, powerful things happen. People build relationships across differences, develop new skills, and create the social fabric that makes neighborhoods thrive.

Urban farms like ours serve as gathering places where community engagement naturally occurs. The shared work of growing food creates bonds between people who might never otherwise meet. These connections strengthen our neighborhood, improve food access, and create a sense of belonging for everyone involved.

🥬

Fresh Food Access

We distribute fresh, locally-grown produce to community members through partnerships with local organizations, ensuring everyone has access to nutritious food regardless of their ability to pay. Our sliding-scale farm stand welcomes all neighbors.

🌻

Community Garden Plots

Residents can rent garden plots at our urban farm to grow their own vegetables, herbs, and flowers. We provide the space, water, tools, and guidance—you provide the energy and enthusiasm. It's a wonderful way to grow your own food while connecting with fellow gardeners.

Cooking & Nutrition Classes

Free classes teach community members how to prepare healthy, affordable meals using seasonal produce. Learn cooking techniques, nutrition basics, and budget-friendly meal planning in a supportive, hands-on environment.

🌍

Cultural Food Celebrations

We honor the diverse cultural backgrounds of our community through events celebrating different food traditions, growing practices, and agricultural knowledge from around the world. These gatherings create space for sharing stories, recipes, and cultural pride.

Skill-Building Workshops

Practical workshops teach valuable skills like building raised beds, starting seeds indoors, saving seeds, making compost, natural pest control, and preserving the harvest through canning and freezing.

👥

Neighborhood Beautification

Working together with neighbors, we plant community gardens, create pollinator habitats, establish green spaces, and transform vacant lots into productive, beautiful community assets that everyone can enjoy.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering at our urban farm is a rewarding way to give back, meet neighbors, learn about agriculture, and support local food production. We welcome volunteers of all ages and ability levels!
